Sylvester Stallone Biography:
One of the most successful Hollywood actors ever, Sylvester Stallone started out in much more humble beginnings. As a struggling actor, Stallone’s career was changed when, one day in, 1975, he watched a boxing bout between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner. This inspired him, and he spent three days writing a script. The end result was Rocky, one of the most successful and iconic movies of all time.
The film launched Stallone’s career, and he would follow Rocky with several sequels, which he wrote and directed. Another huge franchise Stallone started in the early ‘80s was the Rambo movies. These helped to establish him as one of the go-to action stars in Hollywood in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Further successful films followed, such as Cobra, Tango & Cash, Cliffhanger, and Demolition Man. Critical acclaim came with an against-type performance in Cop Land, but his career floundered in the early ‘00s. A string of flops, including Driven, Spy Kids 3: Game Over, and a remake of Get Carter, led many to believe Sly’s career was on the wane.
But, like his most famous creation, Stallone came back swinging and brought back Rocky in the 2006 sequel Rocky Balboa. He also resurrected the Rambo franchise and directed the Expendables movies. With 6 movies scheduled for production over the next couple of years, Stallone’s career doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon.
