Captain Marvel Passed Two High Grossing Films On The Top 30 List

It is quite impressive that Captain Marvel managed to slip under the-the-radar making it an eventful week across the board.
John Wick 3 topping Avengers: Endgame has been the talk, leave alone the Game of Thrones finale, in its opening weekend with Endgame topping Avatar at the domestic box office. Evidently, Endgame is surely on its way to taking the all-time worldwide title from avatar and it is almost there.

At #2 on the list of the highest-grossing films of all time and just behind Avatar is the Avengers: Endgame. On the contrary and down at #22 is Captain Marvel, which has been getting some extra box office juice from the release of Endgame two months after Captain Marvel came out in March.

This week, Captain Marvel didn’t make huge money, as a matter of fact, it did not even crack the top 10 at the May 17-19 domestic box office. The good news is that from last Sunday to date, its domestic total jumped $2million excluding the money it is making overseas. All said and done, the previous week or so has been enough to push Captain Marvel’s worldwide gross above two worthy competitors:
24. The Lord of the Rings: The return of the King(2003):$1,120,237,002
23.Transformers: Dark of the Moon(2011):$1,123,794,079
I will let Captain Marvel introduce itself proudly at #22;
22. Captain Marvel (2019):$1,125,411,720

Those prices are not just adjusted for inflation, so we are talking about the overall dollar amount and not about the total tickets sold here. It’s a little bit shocking to me that Michael Bay’s third Transformers movie was even that high on the well-coveted list. It is also quite surprising to me in the case of Captain Marvel topping the final Lord of the Rings movie although we have had some ticket price hikes in the past 16 solid years.
I don’t think Carol Danvers can top her fellow superheroes and I know that you all know who is next on the list above Captain Marvel.

21. Aquaman(2018)$1,147,761,807
20. Captain America: Civil War (2016):$1,153,304,495
Yeah, I suspect, as most of you are that Captain Marvel will be sticking with no 22 for a while and possibly pushed down along with some others after 2019 closes out. The Lion King, Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2 will be making plays. On the other hand, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker seriously wants a place in the top 20, at the very last.

The current list of highest-grossing movies, per Box Office Mojo, is sufficiently packed with superhero and Star Wars movies as we are expecting more this year. We still have Spider-man: Far From Home in July on the MCU front. Disney’s Toy Story 4 opens proudly in June whereas Frozen 2 opens in November this year. Not to forget Star Wars Episode nine that ends the Skywalker Saga in December. With our handy guide, you can comfortably keep up with all the 2019 release dates.
