Is This the Last Chance for Avengers: Endgame? The Hit Just Lost Many Theaters, and Lion King Is On the Way

Avengers: Endgame has really broken a sweat in its amazing competition with Avatar. However, the tournament is set to come up with the winner soon and very soon. Here are the figures as it stands and you can now start predicting the winner considering the fact that new movies are set to be released on this very weekend.

Is This the Last Chance for Avengers: Endgame? The Hit Just Lost Many Theaters, and Lion King Is On the Way

• Avatar
Worldwide: $2,787,965,087
• Avengers: Endgame
Worldwide: $2,774,096,541
This is the third re-release of Avengers: Endgame with the coming weekend being the only last chance for it to give its best shot or else…Of course, the above figures don’t account for the amount to be gotten this coming weekend nor the amount it is making as we speak but that does not make the hit safe either. Endgame requires about $14 million at the moment in order to beat Avatar.
It is reported that Avengers 4 experienced a 27% drop after it played in only 1443 theaters compared to its initial 1,985. Losing a solid 542 theaters in just one weekend is no good story to tell. Lion King is expected to hit every screen on July 19th implying that Endgame has got its last shot this weekend after which it will be stashed to give way for the ‘Jungle’.
We have nothing much to expect because our second largest market-China has already registered $615 million which appears to be its best. If Endgame could just make $2 million in a single weekend for the period between now and September, it might be at par with Avatar.

The probability of it reaching Avatar is very little concerning the fact that more movies are set to be out. To start off, we have its very own brother Spider-Man: Far From Home. Spider-Man is already topping the box office chart in the second consecutive week. On the other hand, we got Toy Story 4 which is trailing close behind Spider-Man.
Both movies are being watched in over 4,000 theaters as of now. The big question remains on who will take the #1 next weekend. Lion King? Yeah, most probably. It seems that this coming weekend we shall know the ripe and the unripe. Smaller movies are on the verge of being pushed out. Although Endgame is not one of the smaller movies, the screens it will be having this weekend will certainly be few.
However, all is not lost for Endgame, it just surpassed Avatar’s $760.5 M domestic gross after it recorded a staggering $850 M. If it can beat Avatar at home, then why should it not beat it overseas? If Endgame does not get the worldwide title, then I’m a bit afraid that it won’t have any title to hold.
If you thought it had the domestic title then you are terribly wrong. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the current holder of the coveted domestic title with a record of $936.6 million. Many of us are eager to see if Lion King will topple the record!
