Johnny Depp Biography:
John Christopher Depp II was born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. After receiving a guitar as a gift when he was 12-years-old, Depp soon developed a keen interest in music and joined various bands and garage bands around his hometown with the dream of one day being a rock musician. Depp dropped out of school at 15-years-old to pursue this career and enjoyed a modest success with his band, The Kids. After the group had decided to part ways, Depp began to collaborate with Rock City Angels before getting married and being forced to work odd jobs to pay the bills. On a trip to Los Angeles, Depp was introduced to the actor, Nicolas Cage who encouraged him to pursue a career in acting. Depp followed his advice and was soon cast in his first movie role in A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. In the late ‘80s, Johnny Depp became a popular icon through his appearance in the 21 Jump Street TV series, where he appeared as an undercover police officer in a high school and stole the hearts of millions of teenage girls worldwide. This role shot Depp into stardom, and he was soon offered major movie roles, including Cry-Baby (1990) and Edward Scissorhands (1990). The latter proved the incredible and unique talent Depp possessed and was classed as his major breakthrough in the world of acting. After this, he worked with Al Pacino, Marlon Brando and Tim Burton in other movies which further heightened his career. In 2003, Depp began his long-running career with Walt Disney and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, where he starred as a rum-loving, treasure-plundering Pirate. Since then, he also managed to land himself the leading role in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2004) reboot, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009), Alice in Wonderland (2010) and The Lone Ranger (2013).
