Gina Torres Biography:

Gina Torres was born in New York City into a Cuban-American family. The family lived in Washington Heights for a while before moving to The Bronx. Torres began performing at an early age and was a keen singer. After leaving Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, she won acceptance to many colleges. But she made the decision to leave education and pursue her dream of becoming a performer.

After odd episodes of TV and television movies, Gina got here first main role as Nell in One Life to Live, playing the character for 17 episodes. She also had a leading role in short-lived sci-fi series Cleopatra 2525. In 2003-2004 Torres enjoyed the biggest success of her career. She first took the role of villain Jasmine on Joss Whedon’s cult series Angel. She followed this up with the role of Zoë in another Whedon series Firefly. The following year she appeared in seven episodes of the third season of hit Fox show 24. Most recently, Torres was seen on in two episodes of the sci-fi TV series Westworld, as well as having a recurring role in the comedy series Suits.

In the world of movies, aside from reprising her role as Zoë in the film Serenity (2005), Gina is best-known for appearing in sci-fi sequels The Matrix Reloaded (2003), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). She appeared as the character of Cas alongside husband Laurence Fishburne, whom she married in 2002. The couple have one child, a daughter named Delilah. The couple also appeared as an on-screen couple in the TV show, Hannibal.
