Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California and is often known by his wrestling name, The Rock. Dwayne was brought up by his mother (Ata Johnson) and his father (Rocky Johnson) who was a professional wrestler and spent most of his early childhood following around his father to watch his fights. At high school, Dwayne made a name for himself as a highly talented football player and was snapped up by the University of Miami who offered him a full scholarship. Due to a back injury, Johnson swapped a career in the NFL for a career in wrestling and soon became one of the most impressive and popular WWE wrestlers. In 2000, Johnson decided to take a break from wrestling to enter into the world of acting. His landed his first role in a Hollywood blockbuster in The Mummy Returns (2001), and later, The Scorpion King (2002). After this, he became a major player in the acting profession and starred in numerous movies. His breakthrough role came in 2011 when he joined the cast of Fast Five and soon became known for his strong, athletic figure and fighting skills, and his quirky personality. He then went to star in G.I Joe: Retaliation (2013), Pain & Gain (2013), Hercules (2014), Central Intelligence (2016), Baywatch (2017) and the hugely successful Disney movie, Moana (2016). He is due to star in the upcoming Jumanji continuation in 2017, as well as a continuation of his 2015 movie, San Andreas.
