Heather Langenkamp Biography:
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heather Langenkamp was born to Mary and Robert Langenkamp. She is of German, Scottish, and English descent. Langenkamp attended high school in Tulsa, but the family moved to Washington D.C., where she attended The National Cathedral School for Girls.
After graduating high school in 1982, Heather pursued acting, and, a year later was cast as an extra in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders (1983). She also had a speaking part in Rumble Fish (1983), before attending Stanford University. It was while here that Langenkamp won her most iconic role, Nancy Thompson in Wes Craven’s horror masterpiece A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). The movie was a sleeper hit and launched Heather’s career in Hollywood.
Despite the success of the film, Langenkamp struggled to take the next step in her career. She starred in a pilot that never got picked up, and auditioned for the lead in Night of the Comet, but lost out. But, the blow was cushioned by her appearance in a ZZ Top video for Sleeping Bag, and her reprisal of Nancy in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987).
In the late ‘90s to early ‘00s, Langenkamp took a hiatus from acting and worked as a makeup artist and producer on several projects, including Dawn of the Dead (2004), Evan Almighty (2007), and Dead Silence (2007). In 2010, Heather made a return to Elm Street by narrating the documentary Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010).
Sticking to her horror roots, she is also set for a role in the new Hellraiser movie, Hellraiser: Judgment (2017). Langenkamp has continued to act and is also a makeup artist on the hit show Scream Queens alongside her husband, David LeRoy Anderson.
