Joseph Gordon-Levitt Biography:

Actor, filmmaker, and director, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was born on February 17, 1981, in Los Angeles, California and discovered a love of acting incredibly early on in his life. In fact, by the age of four, Levitt had already joined a local musical theater troupe and started performing in on-stage productions. Soon after this, he was approached by an acting agent and started his career as a child star. By the age of six, Levitt had already been signed to star in upcoming hit movies, including A River Runs Through It and Beethoven which caught the attention of movie and TV producers. These appearances landed him the role on the popular TV series, 3rd Rock From the Sun, which after six seasons, skyrocketed Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s career in the direction of Hollywood Movies. In 1999, Gordon-Levitt was chosen to star in the modern adaptation of a Shakespeare classic, 10 Things I Hate About You, alongside Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger. In 2000, after an impressive first stint in the acting world, Gordon-Levitt decided to enroll at Columbia University School of General Studies to enhance his education in French poetry, history, and literature – but dropped out in 2004 to pursue his acting career once more. Despite this hiatus, Joseph Gordon-Levitt had no problems getting back into the acting world and was soon cast in major motion pictures, such as Brick (2005), The Lookout (2007), and (500) Days of Summer (2009) for which he received numerous award nominations as the leading male actor. His roles in these movies advanced Gordon-Levitt to become a household name, and he was soon offered huge movie roles with the likes of Inception (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2011) and 50/50 (2011).
