Kristen Wiig Biography:
Popular comedienne, actress, producer and writer, Kristen Wiig was born on August 22, 1973, in Canandaigua, New York. For most of her younger life, Wiig had no interest in performing arts or comedy. After she had graduated from high school, Wiig enrolled at the University of Arizona to study and major in Art. However, to fulfill her course requirements and graduate from college, Wiig had to take on an extra subject – and she chose acting. Although she enjoyed it, she did not expect to make a career out of it until her teacher suggested it to her. So Wiig moved to Los Angeles to try and make it in the acting world. After joining an acting troupe, Wiig was offered a full-time position on Saturday Night Live in 2005 and soon became one of the most popular comedians. These appearances caught the attention of major Hollywood producers, and Wiig was soon brought into the world of film, where she made her first debut in the 2006 movie, Unaccompanied Minors. She then managed to land herself small feature roles in major movies such as Knocked Up (2007), Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) and Whip It (2009) before finally achieving lead role status in Despicable Me (2010) and Paul (2011). Later that year, Wiig penned the hit comedy movie, Bridesmaids, alongside Annie Mumolo, which she also starred in. This became a box-office hit and earned Wiig both acting and screenwriting award nominations. Since then, Wiig has made a name for herself as one of the most talented comedy writers and actors in the business and has since starred in movies such as the Ghostbusters remake, The Martian and Zoolander 2.
