Kristy Swanson Biography:

Born and raised in California, Swanson is the daughter of Robert and Rosemary Swanson, both teachers. She attended El Toro High School and pursued a career in acting from a young age. As a young child, she won some appearances in commercials, but she wanted to perform. Joining the Actors Workshop, she moved into TV appearances in shows like Call to Glory and Cagney & Lacey. But, she got her big movie break a year later, when she had a nonspeaking role in John Hughes film Pretty in Pink (1986). That same year she appeared as a classmate in another Hughes vehicle Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986).

Her first starring role came that very same year when she took the part of Samantha Pringle in the Wes Craven horror Deadly Friend (1986). She followed this up with a performance in Flowers in the Attic (1987). Swanson’s biggest and most famous role would come in 1992 when she won the role of Buffy Summers in cult horror-comedy Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). She also appeared in comic book movie The Phantom (1996), and the comedy Dude, Where’s My Car? (2002).

As a 17-year-old Swanson was briefly engaged to Canadian actor Alan Thicke. In 2009 she married Canadian skater Lloyds Eiser, with whom she has a child. In 2002, Swanson posed nude in Playboy Magazine. She has continued to act, and, most recently is known for a recurring role in the TV show Psyche.
