Marilyn Ghigliotti Biography:
New Yorker Marilyn was born in NYC in 1961 but was raised and lived in Sayreville, New Jersey from a young age. He parents moved around a lot when she was a kid, before settling in The Garden State. She attended Sayreville War Memorial High School in 1979. It was during her time in New Jersey that she became passionate about acting. After graduating she became a qualified beautician, and was licensed to carry out professional hair and makeup work. She was also acting on the side as well, performing in community theater in New Jersey.
It was during this time that she moved in similar circles to young filmmaker Kevin Smith. And she won a part in Smith’s movie Clerks (1994), having had no prior screen acting experience. Marilyn won the role of Dante’s long-suffering girlfriend Veronica in the film and became a firm fan favorite. It is alleged that Smith cast her for her ability to cry at the right dramatic moments during a scene. Following the success of Clerks, Marilyn’s career didn’t quite take off in the way she would have wanted.
She made appearances in a few low-budget projects, including Flesh Eaters From Outer Space (1998), A Packing Suburbia (1999), and Dead and Gone (2008). After moving to Los Angeles in 1998, Ghigliotti has been working as a makeup artist in the industry, as well as acting. She also appeared in the making-of documentary Shooting Clerks (2016), all about how the film was made.
