Maya Rudolph Biography:

Rudolph has music and performing in her blood. Born in Florida, her parents were both songwriters, and the family moved to Los Angeles when Maya was very young. As a child, she attended St. Augustine by the Sea School and became friends with fellow actress Gwyneth Paltrow. After graduating in 1990, Maya went to the University of California and earned a degree in photography. She formed a band during her time at university and considered a career in music. But she eventually decided to pursue a career in comedy and joined The Groundlings.

In 2000 Rudolph joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and appeared in more than 140 episodes of the show. Her first acting role on screen came with a 5 episode stint in Chicago Hope, and a small part in the movie As Good As It Gets (1997). With other post-SNL roles including parts in Idiocracy (2006), and Grown Ups (2010), Rudolph’s success got even bigger when she appeared in Bridesmaids (2011). She followed this up with roles in Grown Ups 2 (2013), Big Hero 6 (2014), and CHiPs (2017).

Rudolph has been in a relationship with director Paul Thomas Anderson since 2001. The couple has 4 children, born in 2005, 2009, 20011, and 2013. She gave birth to 2 of her children at home and returned to work not long after. Maya has recently played a role in The Emoji Movie (2017), and Life of the Part, due for release next year.
