Michael Sheen Biography:

Sheen was born in Newport, Wales, but, when he was five, his parents moved the family to Port Talbot. A keen footballer, at a young age, Sheen considered a career as a professional football player. He was offered a place in Arsenal’s youth team when he was 12-years-old. It fell through because the family didn’t want to move to London, and he eventually lost interest in the game and turned to performing instead. In his teenage years, he was heavily involved in the National Youth Theatre of Wales.

After graduating Neath Port Talbot College with A-levels, Sheen considered studying English at university but chose drama school instead. He was granted a bursary during his second year at RADA to allow him to act full-time. He started taking theater roles and got his breakthrough with the lead in Amadeus. He transitioned into film and became a big star after his performance in Underworld (2003). This was followed by his acclaimed portrayal of Tony Blair in The Queen (2006).

Further acclaim filled in movies like Frost/Nixon (2008), The Damned United (2009), and Midnight in Paris (2011). In television, Sheen also starred in the hit show Masters of Sex. He was formerly in a long-term relationship with Kate Beckinsale, and Rachel McAdams. Sheen is currently in a relationship with American comedian Sarah Silverman.
