Nathan Fillion Biography:
Canadian actor Nathan Fillion was born in Edmonton, the son of two English teachers. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic High School as a kid and the University of Alberta. Fillion was involved in a lot of improv theater before moving to New York and winning a role in One Life to Live. He then moved to Los Angeles and got his first big break as Sharon’s boyfriend, Johnny Donnelly, on the sitcom Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place.
He followed up his stint on Two Guys with his most iconic role; that of Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Joss Whedon’s short-lived, but hugely popular, cult sci-fi series Firefly (2002). He reprised the role for the feature film Serenity (2005), along with landing leading roles in comedy-horror Slither, and indie flick Waitress (2007). He also appeared as deranged preacher Caleb in the final season of another Whedon show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
In more recent years Fillion has worked on an array of different types of projects. He took his first singing role in Joss Whedon’s (notice a theme here?) Internet musical Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. He had a role in the movie Super and took the lead in crime-drama series Castle, which ran for 8 seasons. Additionally, Fillion has added his voice to video games such as Halo 5: Guardians, and Destiny 2.
