Owen Wilson Biography:
American actor, screenwriter, and producer, Owen Wilson was born on November 18, 1968, in Dallas, Texas to a family of Irish descent. When he was a child, Owen attended the New Mexico Military Institute where he developed a love for writing. With an aim to become a professional writer, Wilson applied to the University of Texas at Austin, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in English. While he was at university, Owen Wilson befriended famous filmmaker, Wes Anderson, where they both pooled their talent together to write the screenplay and star in their own movie, ‘Bottle Rocket.’ Although the movie received bad reviews, Owen’s talents hadn’t gone unnoticed. After gaining more and more attention, Owen moved to Hollywood, where he was offered roles in some of the best big budget movies of the 1990s, including Breakfast of Champions (1999), The Haunting (1999) and Meet the Parents (2000). He soon became known for his distinctive and crooked nose, his smooth humor and signature phrases – as well as his writing skills. Although acting took the lead role in his career, Wilson still tried to make time for his screenwriting, and once again teamed up with Wes Anderson to write The Royal Tenenbaums in 2001 which led to numerous movie award nominations. In more recent years, Owen has starred in major motion pictures such as Night at the Museum, Marley & Me, Midnight in Paris, and the Cars franchise which has helped maintain his popular reputation as an actor, as well as a writer.
