Ralph Fiennes Biography:

Born in Ipswich, England on December 22, Ralph Fiennes is the eldest child of Mark and Jennifer. Born of English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry, Fiennes, and his family, including younger brother, actor Joseph Fiennes, moved to Ireland in 1973. After moving around a lot as a kid, he finally finished up school at Bishop Wordsworth’s School. After this, he went to Chelsea College of Art to pursue painting, but changed his mind and decided his heart lay in acting. He moved and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and started to work on stage.

His first screen role was as Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights in 1992, but it was the following year that he really got his huge break. Fiennes beat out hundred of other actors when he won the role of Amon Goeth in Schindler’s List (1993). He was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. He followed this with some roles in diverse movies, such as Quiz Show (1994), Strange Days (1995), and The English Patient (1996), for which he was nominated for an Oscar again.

With an array independent and unusual roles over the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, things took an upward turn for Fiennes in 2005. He won the role of the villainous Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2005). He reprised the role for the final 4 films of the series as well. More recently he appeared in the films Spectre (2015), and Hail, Caesar! (2016).
