Rupert Grint Biography:
Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint was born on August 24, 1988, and grew up in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, just north of London in England. Despite the fact that Rupert Grint always wanted to grow up to be an ice cream man, he sparked an interest in acting while at school, participating in many school productions and was a member of a local stage school. Despite never having any professional acting experience before, Grint auditioned for Harry Potter in 2000 and got the part. Because he was still so young and had such a heavy workload, Grint had to be tutored on the set of Harry Potter to keep up with his studies. After the release of the first Harry Potter movie, where Rupert starred as Ron Weasley, the best friend of Harry Potter, Grint was a household name and became established within both the franchise and the acting world. His name became more and more prevalent after each of the movies, until the eighth movie when the franchise came to a close. In 2002, Grint was offered the chance to work outside of Harry Potter and landed his first solo role in the kid’s comedy movie, Thunderpants. Since then, Grint has appeared in various movies, both big-budget and small-budget, including Driving Lessons, Cherrybomb, Wild Target, Into The White and CBGB, as well as starring in the music video for Ed Sheeran’s “Lego House.” Although it is not his preference, Grint has also performed on stage in both the West End and Broadway in major theater productions, including ‘It’s Only A Play’ in New York.
