Talia Shire Biography:
Talia Shire is a New York native who rose to prominence in the 1970s. She is the younger sister of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola and got her big break when she was cast as Connie in her brother’s 1972 crime masterpiece The Godfather. This was followed up by a role in the sci-fi horror Prophecy, and, perhaps her most iconic part, Adrian in Rocky.
Shire has had a sporadic career over the past few decades, but she remains one of the best-known actresses in Hollywood. Shire would go on to star in The Godfather: Part II and The Godfather: Part III, as well as four Rocky sequels. These have been her most famous roles to date, but she has over 65 credits to her name.
In 1995, Talia sat in the director’s chair for the first (and to date, only) time, when she directed the 1995 drama One Night Stand, starring Ally Sheedy. Since the mid-’90s she has worked less but has still managed to appear in hit movies like I Heart Huckabees and TV-movies like Blue Smoke.
Over the course of her career, Shire has been nominated for two Academy Awards, for her roles in the Rocky and Godfather movies. Additionally, two of her children are actors and musicians, Jason and Robert Schwartzman. She is also the aunt of actor Nicolas Cage.
Talia will be back on our screens in 2018 in the movie Con Man, alongside her fellow Godfather star and close friend James Caan. She remains one of the most popular and likable actresses in the movie industry.
