The MCU has had quite a lot of super-heroes joining it as it expands in a bid to protect the universe. Here are some of them just to name a few:
• Iron Man
• The Incredible Hulk
• Captain America
• Ant Man and the Wasp
• Guardians of the Galaxy
• The Wakanda
The idea of X-Men being recruited into the MCU will therefore not be a surprise to you. So, if X-Men are to become part of the Avengers, who will play as Wolverine?
Rumors have it that the Kingsman actor, Taron Egerton will be the one to step into the claws of Wolverine in the MCU. Taron has also acted in the Rocketman blockbuster proving that he is a worthy actor who is headed for greater heights.
The actor however said that no one has informed him of anything to do with Wolverine. He goes on to say that the rumors are just unfounded and that he is not sure if he is that grisly enough to take on the role.
Taking a closer look at what the actor said, you will realize that he put his words in such a way to deny the role at the same time honestly saying that he hasn’t been told anything about it. What if he was told by the MCU itself, how would he respond? For him, the rumors have no concrete base as it stands.
In an interview with Heart Breakfast, Taron Egerton said that he does not know if he is suitable for the role of Wolverine. A quick look at the star’s movies show that he played as the brilliant spy Eggsy in Kingsman. In Rocketman, he played as the flexible and suited rock star Elton John. His on-stage performance was just superb, maybe he should try a more grisly role this time round.
In addition to somehow denying the role, Taron expresses his wish to be part of the MCU where he can get a more suitable role. He says that there are probably better-suited candidates for the role but if the MCU choses him, he would gladly accept the offer.
In any case, Taron is 5’9” which is closer to Wolverine’s stature and better than Daniel Radcliffe’s who is also on that coveted list for the role.
For me, I think there are certainly a number of roles in that great universe and Marvel would do everyone the world of good by making Taron a great Johnny Storm. Besides, Taron doesn’t have Wolverine’s hair color and he is not as grisly as the role would expect him to be. All in all, the same could have been said to Hugh Jackman before he took the role and molded it into the magic we see nowadays in Wolverine.
Kevin Feige indicates that Weapon-X are not debuting in the MCU soon, not just yet. This therefore gives Marvel the chance to carefully choose the correct Wolverine who will step into Hugh Jackman’s shoes and successfully reboot the Wolvie we all are anticipating.
