The MCU ended in a very dramatic way. The Russo Brothers threw everything at us and it was brutal all the way to the very tearful end. In ‘Infinity War’ Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man was missing but then he appeared in the Endgame and his impact was major, to say the least.
Scott Lang came back from the Quantum Realm and his idea to manipulate the Pym particles is how they were able to time-travel and reverse what Thanos had done to them. With his work in Endgame, we thought that there would be a third Ant-Man movie. So, it was surprising to hear from Paul Rudd that to make it happen, we would have to start a campaign.
Phase Four is a mystery so far to the fans but it would appear we are not the only ones in the dark about this. The stars of the franchise don’t seem to know much about what will happen either.
What we do know is that Paul Rudd has not officially signed on to play Scott Lang for a trilogy. .So, why is this?
We all saw how critical he was to the way that the MCU ended and one would wonder why they are not giving him a threequel. He crossed over to the Avengers in ‘Civil War’ after a solo movie and his contributions were nothing short of crucial.
Peyton Reed directed both Ant-Man movies after Edgar Wright dropped out due to ‘creative differences.’ Reed carved out a niche for the character in the MCU and the movies were successful at the box office and with critical acclaim too. All crucial Marvel characters have had threequels and it seemed that Ant-Man would get one too.
Most of the leads got an ending that befits them well in Endgame. The OG is going into retirement and we were assuming that the smart money would be on characters like Ant-Man.
Let’s get one thing straight, we all want a threequel. Aside from his interaction with Falcon, Ant-Man did not interact with the Avengers much. He was in the airport battle and eventually ended up on The Raft behind bars.
His absence from Avengers: Infinity War was noted and it was said that he was under house arrest at the time while taking care of his daughter. He gets stuck in the Quantum Realm after the events of Ant-Man and The Wasp and a rat (with some luck) brings him back.
His optimism about the Pym particles kick started the idea that saved everyone. In addition, he fought at the last battle against Thanos and his army. Everything was not wrapped up in a way that we cannot get another story from Ant-Man and The Wasp again. His crew’s fate is not known, the way the family deals with his disappearance has not been addressed. There are so many things that they can do but will they?
Guess we will have to start a campaign and see what happens.
