Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy actor, Chris Pratt, recently debunked rumors claiming he would adorn the mantle of Indiana Jones.
Chris Pratt Is Scared of Ford’s Ghost
According to several prominent sources, Disney is considering Pratt as Harrison Ford’s heir for the iconic role of cinema’s most famous archaeologist and adventurer.
In a recent interview, Pratt joked that he didn’t know who Steven Spielberg is. He also added that he has zero ties with the Indiana Jones franchise and that he wants things to remain that way as he’s worried Harrison Ford will haunt him should he decide to portray Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr. a.ka. Indiana Jones.
Chris Pratt’s fears are due to a tweet by Ford, which hinted that when he leaves this world, he would be taking Indiana Jones with him.
Ford Will Reprise the Role of Indiana Jones
Harrison Ford will portray Indiana Jones in the franchise’s fifth installment, which is expected to hit the silver screen on June 30, 2023. He will be joined by prominent actors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thomas Kretschmann, and Toby Jones.
Unlike previous Indiana Jones movies, Steven Spielberg won’t be sitting in the director’s chair. The film will be entrusted to James Mangold, who directed critically acclaimed movies such as 3:10 to Yuma, Logan, The Greatest Showman, and Ford vs Ferrari.
However, Spielberg will be part of the production team, meaning he will be heavily involved with the film. The script is being written by the Butterworth brothers, Jez and John-Henry, in collaboration with Mangold.
Very little is known about the movie’s plot but one thing is certain, Chris Pratt won’t be in it. Although he seems like Harrison Ford’s logical successor, it remains unclear whether Ford will ever give Pratt his blessing. Only time will tell!
